Founder and President Jeanette Dorf MA, CCC-SLP
Jeanette Dorf is an American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) certified Speech-Language Pathologist and she is licensed to practice in the State of Texas. Ms. Dorf grew up in Colombia South America, and she was educated in the United States. Ms. Dorf is fluent in English and Spanish. Ms. Dorf graduated with a Bachelor in Arts in Speech Pathology and Audiology from University of Florida in 1986 and a Masters in Arts in Communication Disorders from University of Texas at Austin in 1988. While at University of Texas, Ms. Dorf received a grant to train to become a bilingual speech pathologist. After receiving her Masters degree, Ms. Dorf worked in Colombia South America for 10 years. During that time Ms. Dorf Worked as a speech pathologist in Hospitals, medical settings and bilingual schools. Ms. Dorf also owned a private practice where she worked with bilingual and monolingual individuals. Ms. Dorf has worked as a speech pathologist in the United States since 2002. During that time, Ms. Dorf has worked for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) and different home health agencies in the Dallas-Metroplex area. During these years, Ms. Dorf has worked with monolingual and bilingual individuals and their families helping them achieve their maximal communication potentials. As a multicultural and multilingual individual herself, Ms. Dorf is passionate about helping individuals with communication deficits and their families learn English and the American culture as well as preserve their heritage and costumes from their country of origin. Ms. Dorf is also a firm believer of the importance of using a family integrated approach to help individuals with communication deficits develop their communication skills to a maximal potential. During her over 20 years career, Ms. Dorf has taught speech pathology courses at the university level in Colombia. Ms. Dorf has been a presenter for different professional organizations including TSHA. Ms. Dorf has trained parents of children with communication deficits on how to help their children develop communication skills at home. At the present time, Ms. Dorf is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Texas Speech and Hearing Association (TSHA). Ms. Dorf is a past board member for the Texas Organization for Multicultural, Multilingual Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists (T.O.M.M.A.S). |
